Why laboratories use BenchGuard

BenchGuard combines an absorbent upper surface with a protective backing, creating a practical disposable layer for benches, trays and other suitable work areas.

01

Absorbs spills

The cellulose upper layer helps absorb and contain liquid across the protected area.

02

Barrier protection

The poly-coated underside helps prevent absorbed liquid from soaking through to the surface below.

03

Tear resistant

Designed to remain practical during routine laboratory and work-surface use.

04

Flexible formats

Select a tear-off roll for adjustable lengths or wallet sheets for repeatable coverage.

Compare the BenchGuard range

The products share a 490 mm width but differ in absorbency and dispensing format. Check the complete product code before ordering.

BG50

Standard absorbency roll

A 50 metre dispenser roll for flexible bench coverage. Cut or tear the required length for the work area.

Absorbency 400 mL/m2
Dimensions 50 m x 490 mm
Format 1 roll
BG50E

Extra absorbency roll

The same convenient 50 metre roll format with twice the listed absorbency of the standard BenchGuard range.

Absorbency 800 mL/m2
Dimensions 50 m x 490 mm
Format 1 roll
BG60

Standard wallet sheets

Pre-cut sheets supplied in a wallet box for repeatable coverage without measuring or cutting from a roll.

Absorbency 400 mL/m2
Sheet size 600 x 490 mm
Format 100 sheets

How to choose

Select the format according to the size of the working area, expected liquid volume and how frequently the protective layer will be replaced.

1
Estimate the working area Use rolls for adjustable coverage or sheets for a consistent footprint.
2
Consider likely spill volume Choose standard or Extra absorbency for the intended activity.
3
Check chemical suitability Review the relevant safety data and local procedure before use.
4
Replace when required Remove contaminated or saturated material using local disposal procedures.
Quick comparison

Rolls versus wallet sheets

Both formats use an absorbent surface and coated barrier layer, but they suit different workspace requirements.

Requirement Roll format Wallet sheets
Coverage size Adjust the length to suit benches, trays or larger work areas Consistent 600 x 490 mm sheet size
Preparation Measure and separate the required length Remove a pre-cut sheet from the wallet
Available here BG50 standard and BG50E Extra BG60 standard absorbency
Typical benefit Flexible coverage with less restriction on length Repeatable sizing and quick replacement

Important: BenchGuard is a work-surface protector, not a substitute for a chemical spill kit, containment system or validated decontamination procedure. Check chemical compatibility, risk assessments and local disposal requirements before use.

Common questions

BenchGuard FAQs

What is the difference between BG50 and BG50E?

Both are 50 metre rolls measuring 490 mm wide. BG50 has a listed absorbency of 400 mL/m2, while BG50E Extra has a listed absorbency of 800 mL/m2.

What is the difference between a roll and a wallet?

The roll lets you select the required length for a work area. The BG60 wallet contains 100 pre-cut sheets, each measuring 600 x 490 mm.

Which side should face upwards?

For normal spill absorption, position the absorbent cellulose surface upwards and the coated barrier side against the protected work surface.

Is BenchGuard suitable for every chemical?

No single surface protector should be assumed suitable for every substance. BenchGuard is described as resistant to most chemicals, but users must confirm suitability against the chemical, concentration, exposure time and local risk assessment.

Can you supply BenchGuard for repeat or volume orders?

Yes. Contact us with the required product code, quantity and expected ordering frequency so we can review the available pricing and supply options.
