Ethicon SPONGOSTAN™ POWDER MS0008 is a sterile porcine gelatin absorbable haemostatic powder for control of capillary, venous and arteriolar bleeding. Provides targeted mechanical clot matrix support.

The Ethicon SPONGOSTAN™ POWDER (MS0008) is a sterile, water-insoluble absorbable haemostatic agent composed of purified porcine gelatin in powder form. Designed for adjunctive haemostasis, SPONGOSTAN™ POWDER assists in the control of capillary, venous and arteriolar haemorrhage when conventional methods such as pressure, ligature or cautery are ineffective or impractical.

The powder format allows targeted application to bleeding surfaces, particularly in irregular or difficult-to-access anatomical areas. Upon contact with blood, the gelatin powder acts as a mechanical matrix to promote clot formation and facilitate haemostasis.

SPONGOSTAN™ POWDER is intended for use in a wide range of surgical procedures (excluding ophthalmic applications). The material is fully absorbable and gradually resorbed by the body during healing.

Supplied sterile and ready to use directly from the package, product code MS0008 should be stored dry at controlled room temperature (15°–30°C). Intended for professional surgical use only.
